About Aangan

An aangan is the courtyard at the middle of an old Indian house — the otlo, the chatai on the floor, the place everyone drifts to in the evening. That is the feeling we are trying to put back on a phone screen.

Aangan is a free home for the card games Indian families already know how to play. Not casino games, not imported ones — the games that get pulled out at Diwali, on long afternoons, when the cousins are visiting: Mindi Coat, Gadhedo, Teen Patti, Rummy, Paplu, Kachuful, Satti, and more.

A note on Teen Patti

Teen Patti is traditionally a betting game, and we have kept the Diwali feel without the betting. It is played with table chips that everyone starts equal on. Your marble wallet is never at stake, and chips cannot be bought or exchanged for anything. It is the baithak, not the casino.
