Privacy Policy

Last updated: 22 July 2026

Aangan (આંગણ) is a free website for playing traditional Indian card and board games with your family and friends. This page explains what information we handle, why, and what control you have over it. We have tried to write it in plain language rather than legalese.

The short version. We collect the minimum needed to let you sign in and play with your group, plus anonymous usage measurement so we can tell which parts of the game are working. We do not sell your data. There is no real-money gambling anywhere in Aangan — the marbles (lakhoti) and chips are decorative and have no cash value and cannot be bought or cashed out.

Who we are

Aangan is operated by the owner of theaangan.in. For any privacy question or request, see Contact.

Usage measurement

We use Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the game is used — for example how many people who open Aangan go on to start a game, whether players come back the next day, and which games are popular. This is how a small project decides what to fix next.

These events carry no personal information: no names, email addresses, photos, group names, group codes or table codes are ever included. What we send is limited to things like "a game was started", which game it was, the interface language, and a count of how many separate days this device has been active. Google may set identifiers for this measurement.

There is no Facebook pixel and no third-party behavioural advertising tracker in Aangan beyond the Google services described on this page.

What your group can see

Aangan is a social game, so some information is visible to other players in groups you join: your display name, your profile photo if you set one, whether you are online, and your game results, stats and achievements within that group. Please only join groups with people you know, and only upload a photo you are happy for them to see.

Cookies and advertising

Aangan uses Google AdSense to show advertising. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

Third-party services we rely on

When you share an invite, your device's own share sheet (for example WhatsApp) handles the message. We never receive your contacts or your chats.

Children

Aangan is a family game and is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it. Parents: the game contains no real-money gambling, but it does show advertising and lets players chat through reactions within a group.

Your choices and rights

Data retention and security

We keep your account and game data for as long as your account exists, and delete it on request. Data is stored on Google Firebase infrastructure and transmitted over HTTPS. Access is restricted by database security rules so that, in general, you can write only your own data. No online service can promise perfect security, but we keep what we collect deliberately small.

International transfers

Google's infrastructure means your data may be processed on servers outside your country.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle data, we will update this page and the date at the top.
